The first 3 months of the year are certainly the best time for a lovely stay in Playa Del Carmen: the temperature is perfect, the sky is at its clearest, and chances of rain are low.
The surroundings of Playa Del Carmen are just as exciting. Besides the effervescent city of Cancun, and its famous kiting spot of Isla Blanca, make sure not to miss these absolute gems that Mexico has to offer.
When it’s time to unwind, Tulum is the perfect sanctuary. Enjoy the downtown with its laid-back vibes and indulge in sensational fish-tacos. Experience the idyllic Caribbean seaside for a kite session, or simply relax. Discover ‘the observatory’, a testament to the architectural skill of the Mayan people, and their incredibly advanced understanding of the world around them.
Located in the heart of a natural reserve, Hoolbox Island is a biodiversity sanctuary where you’ll spot turtles, pelicans and flamingos. Meanwhile, nestled on a thin strip of sand, El Cuyo is a gem still spared from the crowds. And they are both kitesurfing paradises: warm turquoise waters lap against cashmere soft white sand beaches, perfectly framed with coconut-laden palm trees.
Only a 45-minute boat ride away from Playa, Cozumel Island is the perfect place for a road trip. Rent a car to enjoy the secret bays along the shore and the warm, tempting waters that are home to dazzlingly colorful fish. Don’t forget to bring your gear either: the east coast is great for wave-loving kitesurfers (don’t miss out on Playa Bonita!), while the north is known for its flatter waters.
Please note that these side trips (and any other activities) are not included in the chapter price. These are given here for information only, and you will have to organize it yourself before, during, or after the chapter. Luckily, Kiterhood is the breeding ground for new friendships, so you can easily team up and side trip together whenever it suits you. We can already recommend you not to make solid flight arrangements on the days following this chapter. You will maybe end up extending your stay for a few more weeks: Kiterhood is only the beginning!
Spots to suit every level are only steps away from where you’ll live and work. Water is flat in most – due to the reef, but you can expect some good waves too when swell comes in. The water is warm (≈ 26°C/80°F) and the wind is consistent. Sounds like paradise? It is! Here are some of the spots where sessions are planned to take place.
